I purchased 3 of these phones from 2 different companies. I kept the one from wirefly. The outside shell is very cheaply made. Parts are loose upon arrival. The speaker is VERY difficult to hear out of. My son has resorted to putting the corner of the phone in his ear so that he can hear. I would NOT recommend this phone unless you are a teenager who doesn't care about quality. And you only want this phone for the music capabilities.

I did a lot of looking at reviews before deciding to make the Sony W580i my next cellphone choice. I entered a 2 year contract with ATT and wanted to make sure I had service and a phone I could live with. My expectations have been more than met by both ATT and by Sony. This phone works well with the Sony software for address/calendar. I use the Walkman section of the phone in my car and at the gym. It has eliminated the other MP3 device I used to carry. If you are looking for a great phone, this is it.

I have been using Sony Ericsson phone for about 2 years this one is great for the display and extra light features, but the battery is worthless compared to any other phone I don't actually use my phone that often but usually have to charge about every other day compared to once or twice a week with the other products, I still love the phone and wouldn't go back to the previous.

This phone looks really nice, and I received a few compliments about it. It's great besides that when I have the phone in my jean pocket, sometimes when I take it out, it would on an internet website..so the key lock thing doesn't work too well sometimes. the flip for where the memory card goes...i opened it once and it doesn't really completely close anymore. the memory card that goes with this phone is really expensive. and maybe this is just me, but i'm not too sure how to upload pictures from my phone to the computer or connect to bluetooth.
Overall, this phone is really stylish and I still love it even with its flaws.

I have had the phone for a couple of weeks now and am enjoying it.

Cons: Some of the buttons are easily squeezed so that the standard carrying cases you find at the mall may cause issues.
This is my first slider and I am somewhat nervous about the durability of the phone.
I am also not in love with the fact that it uses M2 for expanded memory instead of MicroSD, but I understand that Sony is going to promote their standards.
Sometimes ending an application is harder than it needs to be.
Some functions, such as those controlling Bluetooth, are a bit spread-out. I have had Sony Erricsson's before, so it does not bother me as much as it might a new user.
Customizing locations of icons is hard or impossible (at least I haven't found a way yet).

It's so small it's tough to talk on regularly, maybe I'm just not used to it yet, the calls seem to cut in and out-HOWEVER when I use the headset, the calls are perfectly clear (that's why I put hit or miss with call quality). The buttons seem small, but are surprisingly easy to dial and text with. Walkman is awesome, durable enough for the gym. Love this phone!

This is truly a great phone. The camera takes good pictures, with a nice built in photo editing software that allows you to fix the photos up. The stereo speaker is great, and the ability to listen to FM radio through your phone is fantastic. I am disappointed, however, in the battery life. I have to recharge this phone every day, whereas my old phone, when I first bought it required charging about once a week. I might have a defective battery however. All in all, this is one fantastic phone and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Well, it feels great to just pull out of the pocket, slide it out to take the call and slide snap in to end the call! Sound quality while talking as well as while listening to the music is great! I use the robust Bluetooth extensively to transfer songs and pics.
The only disappointing thing is that the phone cannot be used through the USB if it doesn't have an external memory card. Otherwise, on the whole this product is flawless.. you should go for it!

Love the phone, easy to use, syncs very nicely, love the pedometer feature. I listen to music a lot and this phone has replaced my iPod! small inconveniences include charger and headphone plug into same jack, seems to access the internet "by accident" (probably my fault for not verifying locked), can't access my hotmail account (proprietary ATT), when plugged into the computer USB charges very very slowly if at all(this means that on business trips I have to take my charger and my usb cable). I don't text alot so the key size and location and lack of querty board don't bother me. the phone is beautifully designed except for the slider mechanism, it works well but there is a slight amount of play when it is open giving a cheap feeling. All in all a great phone, especially since it was free with new service.

I love the design! But when it's in the open mode (slide open), it's a little shaky. The buttons could be a little bigger. I don't know if they put the speaker in the right place. The speaker quality isn't so awesome. I think it could be louder, especially since I heard that Sony Ericsson is known for its good quality speakers. It could really use a normal call and end call button like most phones. The camera quality really sucks. It doesn't have a flash option or a lighting system for dark places.

If you want a phone that is unique, or you have to have the coolest toy out there, this is it. Great music capabilities, huge memory potential (I have a 4gb memory card!), and a really cool design. It's a real eye catcher. I get comments and questions every time I make a call. Great for the gym too. Only downside is it is a bit hard to use the key pad with one hand. Your thumb is in an awkward position to press the numeric keys but otherwise a sic phone.

I'm not on the internet that often..so it would have been nice if there was a disable option since there is a button on the phone to use the internet. Watch for that. Other than that, great phone.

I researched this phone since I was due for an upgrade in Feb.2007 and when it hit the market I purchased it in Sept.2007.It was a great wait 7 months for a phone so perfect.This phone has a photo Dj so you can play with the pictures,it has a music Dj so can create beats on your phone and then use them as ringtones,and one of my favorites music ID hear a song u dont know just hit a button and it will identify the song for you.I love evreything about this phone.

Had trouble transferring songs from my computer to the phone. I downloaded the Disc2Phone software from the Sony Ericsson website. It kept telling me there was no phone connected even though the phone was attached via USB cable. Very frustrating. Had to surf the internet for a resolution.

Overall pretty happy with phone. When sliding out keypad, its too easy to accidently press the navigation button. Should have a plastic tab below the nav button to prevent this.
