The ring tone is not loud enough. When trying to answer the phone, it sends a busy message before the 2nd ring. I really like the walkman set up, it is way better than my IPOD.

I really enjoy having so much music in the phone. Commutes on the train are so much more fun, and if a call comes in the music stops on its own and resumes after the call. The sound quality through the included earbuds is excellent, but when I hook it up to my top grade headphones it really shines. I installed the Opera Mini browser and find it a breeze to surf the web. And as an added bonus, the phone works well too!

I went one screen too far when updating and could not back up to back up my game download and pictures.The sound is loud enough for someone who is hard of hearing. I never turn mine off. Uses battery faster when texting or using walkman. But it is easy to text and the walkman and radio are cool. Make sure you get the extra memory card you will need it if you plan on taking pics and adding music to your walkman. I got my Husband the same one in a different color and he can text on it very well, he never texted before. The sound is very clear and the locking when closed is great. I would buy this one over and over. It is just that good.

I love this phone because it has a great color display that can be seen even in direct sunlight,it has very loud ringtones, and it has a good design that feels sturdy, yet small and light enough to but in a pocket.
What I don't like about the phone is it doesn't have designated buttons for CALL and END CALL. Also, Sony Ericsson could have put in a standard headphone jack so the phone could be charged while headphones are still attached. And the GUI takes a little getting used to.
But in my opinion All of the above "cons" are small flaws, So I definitly would reccommend this phone, for anyone who wants a good phone with a decent camera and MP3 player.

I recently started walking. I also discovered my buddy walks too. He counts my steps, calculates my steps, then tells me the milage. He keeps the music blaring and if i really feel inspired, he also helps me compose and listen to my very own compositions. I also love the compactness of the grip as I walk. I like the phone. I especially like the ability to listen to music and receive phone calls at the same time. I work on a farm. I like that I can use the headphones to listen to music while I use the tractor and when a call comes in I can continue working and talk on the phone at the same time. When the call is finished the music picks up where it left off. Since the headphones are stereo, it's better to talk using those than the phone itself.
The only thing that I REALLY don't like about it is that they put a button on the front that connects you to the internet! WHY? I don't use the costly internet service and if I accidentally push that button while it's in my pocket I'm afraid I will get charged for that. Other buttons are reprogramable, why isn't this one!? It's also hard to find a case that works for this phone that protects it from dust. Other than that, I love it.

Let me come to the point- When i wanted to buy a phone, few primary concerns in my mind where.
1)Fast response time (The processor used inside should give fast response).
2)Long battery life.
3)High definition display.
4)Shoud play music with best quality.
5)Around 2 megapixel camera.

I have almost spent fortnight in reading the reviews. finally i ended up with two phones they are samsung 747 and sonyericsson w580i.
I went to the store to see them, after physically looking those two phones i have decided to go with sony w580i.
Color clarity is very good, sounds greatly, very sleek, what not every thing! i wanted!.
Some interesting feautures are Voice recognition.
Other thing is shake control which even helps as a calorimeter. They are many other unique feautures.
Now after deciding with the phone my next issue is finding the best deal.
1)There are refurbished pieces which comes free with 2 years contract.
2)New ones are around 70$ with 2 years contract.
By the time i thought of buying the refurb piece they are out of stock, i was late by one day!.
so i have checked all the options of getting this phone for free. i checked many stores, I could only get white colored one for free but not black piece.
Came back and was searching the internet for more options afte a long search, for my surprise i ended up with "WIREFLY" as these people are giving brand new "sonyericsson w580i" for FREE! on two years contract, i couldn't believe it. Immediately called them and orderd my phone with out any delay. They said i will recieve the phone in 4-5 days but i recieved the phone in just two days with free! shipping.
Now let me tell you the other side of this phone the only issue is the buttons, they are very small but i never had a issue with them and most of the time i use voice recognistion to call.
I think this will help you people a lot with out wasting your time in reading reviews. This is the summary of all the reviews available on the internet.

let me tell you one more thing with white colored phone, we get 256 mb memory card for free.

One thing that is very impractical is in order to exit to the main screen you have to hit back back back through all of the various menus that it took to reach that location. Instead of hitting it once and it exiting directly to the home screen.

I owned a W600i previous to this and loved the interface, so I was glad to see that Sony Ericsson kept that. The only complaint I had with that model was it's size and the spin phone was kind of weird to operate. This 580i is great! The slider totally protects the camera and buttons while it's in your pocket. Beyond that the phone is packed with features that are actually worth using unlike many phones out there. The only thing that I don't really like is the bulky interface jack you have to use for accessories (although kind of nice because I can still use all the adapters from the W600i).

This phone is great when making calls, I've never had a dropped call and the sound quality is great. The size of the phone is perfect for me, it is compact and I forget it's in my pocket.
The only negative is since it is compact the keys are small and make it difficult to text but I didn't buy it to text.

Internal memory is very low. Could have provided more considering the fact that it is a walkman phone.

I've been using various motorola phones for a looong time and this phone is so much nicer! I use it mostly for calls and music right now, but I've started using the fitness applications and they work amazing! It is actually really motivating to watch that step counter running all day. I find myself doing extra walking just to see it go up :)
The sound quality is great, and the built in speaker isn't too bad either. I've been using my phone as a stereo at work and I am able to play music all day and still make calls without using a significant portion of the battery.
